　　From the cartoon given above, we can observe that there is a recruiter talking with an

　　interviewee. When looking at the resume submitted by the candidate, the interviewer says ,

　　“ Sorry, kid… Your resume looks good, but you only have a Master’s degree … All the other

　　applicants are Ph.D. ! ” Having heard these words, the applicant seems to be quite helpless

　　and embarrassed.

　　No one disputes that a college or higher degree opens doors. Despite that, as far as I’m

　　concerned, academic degree should not be the primary criteria in selecting talents. First of

　　all, academic degrees only represent the applicants’ proficiency in their school work, and

　　cannot demonstrate their personality or other abilities. For instance, a sales position often

　　requires good communication skills which cannot be measured through degree. Second,

　　many qualities weighing heavily in the workplace such as creativity and responsibility have

　　little association with degree, and dropouts cases of Steven Jobs and Bill Gates are just in

　　point.

　　To sum up, even through degrees can be a sign of study ability, it is critical that employers

　　take other factors such as competence, ambition and sense of responsibility into account

　　when recruiting new employees.
