考研英语长难句分析技巧练习

考研英语中的长难句可难倒了大批学生，多数学生表示只要看到长难句就慌了神，十分影响考试状态。那么如何攻克长难句呢？遇到长难句该如何着手分析更清晰呢？北外网课张剑考研组老师为你讲解几个例题，相信会对你有帮助~

1. 争议句理解：

But surely that does not mean environmentalists concerned about uncontrolled

 副词    主语    谓语             宾语从句

industrial growth are anti-science, as an essay in US News & World Report last

May seemed to suggest. (1998 Passage 3)

这个句子目前有两种翻译：  

版本一：但是这并不是说那些关注无节制的工业发展的环保主义者也是反科学的，正如 《美国新闻和世界报道》去年5月发表的一篇文章所暗示的那样。

版本二：但是这并意味着对不加节制的工业发展表示担忧的环保主义者也是反科学的，而去年5月刊登在《美国新闻和世界报道》的一篇文章似乎在暗示他们是反科学的。

   这两个版本的翻译意思居然是相反的。前者把as理解为关系代词，引导定语从句。后者说这是一个as引导的转折从句，相当于 but。

   那么到底应该怎么理解这个as呢？判断的根据又是什么？

分析：这里的as并非所谓的：as引导的转折从句，相当于 but，这样解释是没有道理的，有点牵强附会。正确的解释应该是：as是关系代词，它在文中引导非限定性定语从句as an essay in US News & World Report last May seemed to suggest. 判断依据见下文分析。  

   本句的结构比较特殊，不是一般的as引导的非限定性定语从句，而是一个not...as结构，这个结构的句子意思不能按一般理解为“正如……一样”，而应理解为“与……不同”。

 比如《新概念英语4》里面出现的这样的句子：  

 Spiders are not insects, as many people think, nor even nearly related to them.  

误译：正如许多人认为的一样，蜘蛛不是昆虫，甚至几乎与昆虫毫无关系。  

正译：与许多人认为的不同，蜘蛛不是昆虫，甚至几乎与昆虫毫无关系。  

所以本句正确的翻译应该是： 但是这并意味着对不加节制的工业发展表示担忧的环保主义者也是反科学的，与去年5月刊登在《美国新闻和世界报道》的一篇文章暗示的不同（那篇文章暗示那些环保主义者是反科学的） 。所以对应的题目61题正确答案为 [A] 项。

2. 长难句分析：

分析：句子的主语是Such large, impersonal manipulation of capital and industry，谓语是increased，宾语是the numbers and importance of shareholders as a class。而句中的an element in national life 是一个同位语，是shareholders as a class的同位语，是其进行的进一步解释，其中representing是现在分词做后置定语；两个detached过去分词均修饰irresponsible wealth。

词汇：manipulation n. 操纵；操作；处理；篡改

     capital n. 资金

     represent v. 代表

     detach v. 分离

3. 长难句分析：

We   are even farther removed  from the unfocused newspaper reviews

分析：句子的主语是We, 系动词are 和表语removed构成复合谓语，from the unfocused newspaper reviews作状语，修饰谓语。published in England是过去分词短语作后置定语，修饰newspaper reviews，between the turn of the 20th century and the eve of World War II 作过去分词短语published in England的时间状语。at a time作between the turn ...War II 的同位语，对其进行进一步解释说明，when newsprint was... to the publications为定语从句，修饰先行词a time。in which it appeared是定语从句，修饰先行词publications。

词汇：dirt-cheap adj. 毫无价值的；贱如粪土的；非常便宜的

     stylish adj. 有格调的

4. 长难句翻译：

翻译：宇宙膨胀说虽然听似奇特，但是它是基本粒子物理学中一些公认的理论产生的在科学上看来似乎可信的结论，许多天体物理学家近十年来一直确信这一论说是正确的。

分析：这是一个由and连接的两个并列句。前一部分主干是cosmic inflation is a consequence， 其中Odd though it sounds 是倒装句，正常语序是 Though it sounds odd，为让步状语从句，其中的it指主句主语cosmic inflation。由of some respected ideas in elementary particle physics 修饰 consequence。后一部分主干是 many astrophysicists have been convinced that...,that it is true 为宾语从句，其中的it 指 cosmic inflation。
